Manually Configure Live Streaming 9
For Windows Media Encoder Version 9
The Streaming Configuration Files that a come with software may not match the
video or audio capture device you are using.
When you click on Stream in the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, and you get errors,
then you may have to overwrite or modify the existing streaming configuration files to use
your capture device.
The supplied Streaming Configuration File may be:
- StreamLive1.wme = 160x120 video only
- StreamLive2.wme = 320x240 video only
- StreamLive3.wme = 160x120 video and audio
- StreamLive4.wme = 320x240 video and audio
Procedure Create New Streaming Configuration Files.
- Close the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.
- Start Windows Media Encoder, from Windows click on Start, Programs,
Windows Media, Windows Media Encoder. Or go to folder c:\monitor1\program\
and double click on file StreamLive1.wme Result: Windows Media Encoder runs on
your computer screen.
- From Windows Media Encoder, click on button, New Session, and enter as
follows:
- in tab Wizards, select Broadcast a live event, and click OK.
- under Device Options, select your video and audio devices, Configure if
necessary, then click Next.
- under Broadcast Method, select Pull from encoder, then click Next.
- under Broadcast Connection, select Http Port = 8080 recommended, then
click Next.
- under Encoding Options select, Video = Multiple bit rates video (CBR),
Audio = Multiple bit rates audio (CBR), Bit Rate = 58 kbs and 282 kbs
recommended.
- click Finished.
- you should see video from your video capture device in Windows Media Encoder.
- in Windows Media Encoder click on Start Encoding button. Windows Media Encoder
status bar should read "Encoder Broadcasting" which means the
configuration is good. Else see If Start Encoding Did Not Work below.
- click the Stop button.
- in Windows Media Encoder click on menu item, File, Save As,
- c:\\monitor1\program\StreamLive1.wme
- click on menu File, Exit, Windows Media Encoder closes.
Now the Streaming Configuration File is ready to use in the Video Surveillance WebCam Software
when you click on
menu item Stream and if you set Default Streaming Config File =1. Or when
you do,
Streaming live video with config file 1, from the Admin Page and the Remote User
Interface.
One can repeat the same procedure to make more Streaming Configuration Files.
If Start Encoding Did Not Work
Possible causes of error:
- driver not installed or working correctly
- encoder cannot work the driver, try another driver
- click on Properties, Processing, set Pixel Format = RGB24, then click
Apply button. Then proceed from step 10 above. Later in the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, use menu item Video Format = RGB24 and then do Live Video
Streaming. Some drivers need this extra step for Live Video Streaming to
work.
Notes:
If you had modify one Streaming Configuration File to work with your device,
then modify all the other Streaming Configuration Files to use the same device,
and the same video port number for best operation of the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.
For audio configuration, use Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codec, is
recommended.
If there is a loss of color in the image when doing Live Video Streaming,
change the Video Source from S-Video to Composite, in Windows Media Encoder
under tab Properties, Sources, Video, Configure. Then save the
configuration.
